Since I started blogging the motto I have tried to live by is…
“TAKE PICTURES THAT MAKE YOU HAPPY!”
There are so many photographs that fall into the “need to take” or feel “obligated to take” catogory. I’ve come to a place where I have stopped taking those pictures. I want to focus on the JOY behind the image as much as the final result.
Ansel Adams once said, “A good photograph is one that fully expresses what one feels.”
It sure feels good to enjoy the simple joys of FALL.
It sure feels good to be imperfect, loved, and free to take whatever pictures makes me smile!
It sure feels good to live and photograph a world in which I get to see God’s miracles unfold daily.
This was her first taste of snow in 2011. Happiness!
The last colors of FALL! Happiness!
I’m so thankful God has allowed me to express a small slice of my happiness here, with you.
Wishing you mountains of HAPPY pictures!
Three votes for GIRL! Two votes for BOY! I couldn’t vote because I HAD to take an early peek!
[Babies in Blankies]
Craft idea via Maize Hutton on Flickr. Her little chorus line dolls are unbelievably adorable. Emerson loved coloring in the hair!
[Baby Bottle Search]
We celebrated one night with a few bottle games (number search, guess how many buttons in the bottle, etc…) and then had a mystery baby food guessing contest.
Mason and I made Altiod tin cribs and wooden babes for Emerson’s special “baby gift.”

[Boy VS Girl Craft]
Cheesecake pudding snacks via these adorable cupcakes on Pinterest!
Mason says he will change poopy diapers! Emerson said nope to diaper duty. These are going in the baby “book!”
Three cheers for sleeping babes!
…Blaise is pretty convinced that he is getting a little sis.
Chocolates for the birthing center staff
my very favorite NURSERY RHYMES book ever (circa 1941)!!
Aren’t these illustrations are just darling? And the COLOR! Oh how I love the colors. Sometimes I feel like the Little Old Lady Who Lived in a Shoe!
I think wrapping Hershey nuggets and reading nursery rhymes counts as BABY PREP, don’t you?
I still havn’t packed my bags!! I am procrastinating BIG TIME.
Less than one month until my due date!!!
On Monday my midwife said that I will be considered “full term” on November 18th and I’m not even close to feeling READY!! This week we’ve been focusing our activities on preparing and celebrating BABY-TO-BE!!
Unwrap the blanket to reveal the BABY NAME…
I thought it would be fun to reveal the top baby name ideas to the kiddos and let them vote on their favorites. Earlier this week at dinner had the BIG REVEAL and VOTE! We have some top contenders now. No decisions as of yet! Of course mommy and daddio have get a bit more voting power, but I think the kids enjoy feeling part of the decision making process.
I know I should be focusing on more important things– LIKE packing my bags for the birthing center… but won’t these make a cute keepsake? The baby will always have a reminder of what his/her name MIGHT HAVE BEEN. See those tiny SNOW FLAKES? IT started SNOWING yesterday when I was taking pics.
I’m not good at baking at all! I’d rather set up a little Christmas tree with cookies than to actually bake them. But HOLIDAYS are different! I don’t know what it is, but something about baking for others makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
52 Smiles folks— your challenge this month is to surprise someone with fresh baked goodies. Pick someone WHO WOULD NEVER EXPECT IT! Think about someone you see semi-regularly… A favorite employee at your local market? The staff at your doctor’s office? Your mail carrier? The UPS driver? The folks at your hair salon? Your barista? Go make their DAY!
Last year I took a batch of easy lemon bars to a nice lady who works at Sam’s Club. I wanted her to know that appreciated her friendly conversation and kind attitude. Shopping is never easy with arms full of small kids, but she always had a kind smile for me. My cookies most certinaly didn’t repay her kindness… but she SMILED and was delighted. You bet I’m taking her goodies again this year!!
