Tuesday’s Reflection

“We set boundaries for safety.

From Fear.

Because of habit.

Test them.

See why you drew them.

Push agaist them.

Break through them.

Feel the exhilaration.”

Patrick Lindsay

Happy Easter!!

Eastery tidbits…

Every year I think about sending out Easter cards.  Never quite happens!  Maybe next year?

I started a new vintage Easter card collection.

Just what I need… another collection! :) I blame this on my dad– he is the master of all collectors.  When I was a baby he owned an antique shop named the Collectors Nook.  So it’s all his fault!

Waiting in line for THE BIG HUNT!  4,000 + eggs!!!

There he is in the middle!

Peeps with glasses!  For the first time in history Peeps didn’t taste that good to me. I’ve been off sugar for several weeks so maybe I’m a new woman.  I still ate a ton this weekend.

Frankie helping me fill eggs.

Hiding eggs last night!!  Since he doesn’t like me taking his picture I was pretending to take a picture of the trees.  I need a 85 1.4 so I can be sneaky and get good far-a-way-shots!

What??? I can’t hear you!

Easter Bits & Bobs:

-Randy and Mason were baptized today!  It was beautiful service and I’m so happy for them.  An Easter to remember!!

-We had one of those Honey Baked Hams for dinner tonight… boy oh boy those are scrumptious.

-My house looks like the inside of giant Easter egg bomb.

-I get a little blue after Easter because my next favorite holiday is so far away!  Can you guess what it is?

-Next year I’d like to re-read The Christ of Easter, Readings for the Season of Resurrection by Calvin Miller.

I hope you had a WONDERFUL DAY!

May the miracle of EASTER live in your heart today and always!!!

I have about fifty more things on my to-do-before-Easter list… but it’s 1:20AM and baby is awake.  I don’t think they are going to happen this year!

All my love to you on this Easter Eve!!

The Baskets Have Landed {2012}

I wasn’t going to do it this year.

I was going to skip making my color-coded baskets and buy some store-bought ones.  Then I had an ah-ha moment with my teenage son.  Out of the blue he said to me,  ”Mom, you know what I’m really going to miss when I’m an adult?  Your Easter baskets.  You make the best baskets.”

That’s all it took…My ah-ah moment…

when they are old they won’t remember a thing about what was inside, but they just might remember all the love I put into making them!

Will it crack?

I’ve seen this activity around for years… and I’m so glad we finally gave it a try today!  The goal is to cushion your Easter egg so it won’t crack when you drop it from way up high.  The kids had a BALL!  I let them smash a couple and that is always a treat.  We had “awards” for most creative egg wrap and no cracks.

The victory dance!  You would not believe how excited he was to have ALL THREE of his eggs crack free.  I’m so glad the egg he put in a potholder made it.

I have got to get CRACKIN on my Easter baskets.  I’m way behind this year!

I hope you are having a wonderful Easter season!

Life is a Special Occasion

I love Hallmark’s slogan,

“Life is a Special Occasion.”

Who needs a reason to celebrate with sparkling juice and chocolate chip cookies?!

Our favorite games and toys are reason enough to celebrate!

I adore his freckly nose and competitiveness!  He beat me at Goldilocks & the Three Bears and I beat him at Memory (which is a surprise because I the worst short-term memory ever!!)

Dear God,

Thank you for your constant presence in my life.

I see Your love in the eyes of my children.   I hear Your love in their laughter.

Thank you for Your tender arms that hold us during celebrations

and sad times and all the times in between.

Love,

Me

88-111

A photo of Frankie everyday for her first year!

The big ones are my FAVORITES!

Day 95

Day 97

Day 111

I’m so glad I took on this project.  It only takes me five minutes a day!!  I just plop her on my bed and make crazy faces and funny noises until she gets tired of me!  On most days Blaise is my photography assistant.  He loves to use our bell set to get her attention and often times he snaps away next to me with his play camera.   I’m not traditionally a “take-my-camera-out-everyday” kinda gal, so this project is really forcing me to move beyond my comfort zone.

Isn’t it just amazing how fast they change during the first year?  It’s just a miracle.

Have a WONDERFUL day!
