I had a vision for her room;
it would decorated with nothing but sweet vintage Kewpie dolls and antique lovelies.
Her space would be perfect, pink and PRETTY!
My vision lasted a week, maybe two!!
As for now
forty percent of the walls are decorated with custom crayon and sharpie art,
the Kewpie dolls and antique toys got a little too much love (aka broken),
and after a wild jumping escapade her “vintage” bed canopy spindle cracked off!
And you know what?
Because the only thing her room needs
to be perfectly perfect is HER!
PS I took these photos on the only space that wasn’t “well-loved-destroyed” — she was standing on her dresser!
Last night we took a jar full of colors and went out back to relax by the water. I shouldn’t be, but always am, surprised how the simplest moments fill my heart with such immense joy.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for this cool, breezy evening.
This is quite possibly my favorite summer memory.
Thank you for “fancy” pencils, coloring sheets and moments of relaxation.
I long to remember all of Your simple gifts.
Thank you for these happy, healthy, creative children.
Please help me to freely share all the love and joy these priceless kids bring to my life.
Wishing you relaxing and beautiful days!!!
I bought Emerson a BROWNIE today!! I think this one is from the late 60s. Little box cameras are so neat for kids to pretend and experiment with because they get to look down through the “magic” view finder. My favorite tip from the instruction book– Keep the lens clean and sparking pictures will be your reward! Heheheheh… if only it was that simple! Now I’m on the hunt for a PINK BROWNIE!
I can’t believe it has been an entire year since since he started kindergarten!
Tomorrow is the big day!
This year will be Mason’s very first FULL day of school. He is over-the-moon excited. I am so thrilled for him, but it’s going to be a lot for my little heart to handle.
Three sweet things:
1. Candy-on-the-cob! The best thing about living in Cornville, USA. I have never tasted anything like it.
2. This little man! No joke, he begged me to take his picture after dinner last night. You don’t have to ask this mama twice.
3. A Free Veggies on the side of the road. Kindness everywhere!!! I love the way they spelled veggies.
How about a sweet treat for the bus drivers??
Everyone needs a little THANK-YOU, WE-APPRECIATE-YOU, YOU-ARE-MARVELOUS kinda thing… don’t you think?
We might use this goodie for first day teacher and staff treats too. Perhaps we can find mini Mr. Goodbars and set out a basket in the staff room. “HOPE YOU HAVE A VERY GOOD YEAR!”
Idea via the marvelously creative Michelle Paige!
52 Smiles folks– Wouldn’t it be fun to brainstorm uniquely fun ways to recognize and spoil each special school employee this year??! If you home-school that means you have to find extra-special ways to spoil YOU!!!
Please FALL will you come soon!?
This summer has been brutal for the weather WIMP in me! Extreme heat and humidity seem to zap all the creative energy from my bones. Last week I had all I could take, so I officially decided we could PENTEND like it was Autumn.
Cool nights, hot soup and crisp leaves HERE WE COME!!!!!!

“Taking pictures is savoring life intensely,
every hundredth of a second.”
“Photography, as we know it, is not real at all.
It is an illusion of reality with which we get to
create our own private world.”
“My portraits are more about me than they are the people I photograph.”
“To photograph is to hold one’s breath,
when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality.
It’s at that precise moment that mastering an image becomes
a great physical and intellectual JOY!”
Henri Cartier Bresson
Go take some pictures that make your heart HAPPY!!
