Christmas Candy House

“Christmas – that magic blanket that wraps itself about us, that something so intangible that it is like a fragrance.

It may weave a spell of nostalgia.

Christmas may be a day of feasting, or of prayer, but always it will be a day of remembrance –

a day in which we think of everything we have ever loved.”

Augusta E. Rundel

One year I remember the worlds LARGEST candy house perched on top of our frig.

It was ginormous!

It was grand!

It was the most extraordinary gingerbread house in the universe.

I wonder how big it really was?

I wonder how big THIS house will become in the memories of my children!?

Never worry about the size of your Christmas tree.  In the eyes of children, they are all 30 feet tall.

One of the most glorious messes in the world is the mess created in the living room on Christmas day. Don’t clean it up too quickly.

The Sights of Christmas II

Christmas is more than a span of time on the calendar, it is a place in our hearts.

The Sights of Christmas I

December 24,  2008  [One of my favorite Christmas photos. I asked Mason to lay down in front of the tree for a picture and he fell asleep.]

So many Christmas memories are tucked away in my old dusty Christmas album and more recent ones, hidden away on CDs and hard-drives.  Six years ago I made the switch from film to digital.   Looking back I see that my photographic style has changed so much, but I am so much the same.  I love Christmas.  I love the sights.  The smells.  The cheer.  The merrymaking.  The colors.  The joy.  This season, more than any other time of the year, our focus is on God.  His gift.  His son.  Oh, I am just soaking up His love, our stories under the tree, the crisp air with twinkly lights and our off-tune carols before bedtime.

I pray that you are feeling God’s love and grace as you enjoy this season!

Nickle Ornaments

Can you belive it?

We are full force CHRSTMAS now!

I found these tiny vintage ornaments at a church sale this year for a nickle each.  Aren’t they darling?!

They remind me that the best things about Christmas can’t be purchased… not for a nickle, not for ten-thousand nickles.

I can’t tell how tickled I get reading about all your CHRISTMAS KINDNESS ideas these last couple days.

I get goose bumps just thinking about how theses simple acts magnify the beauty of this season!
