You cannot catch a child’s spirit by running after it.

You must stand still and for love it will soon itself return.

Dear Kimberly,

I’m just editing our tea-party and lollypop session. I’m sorry but I can’t crop you out of the photos. I want you to see how you shine as a mother. The love and affection between you and your sweetheart makes my heart sing. I’m getting all teary eyed just looking at them… you are a dazzling mother.

These last couple days have really made me look at who I am as an artist. What I’ve known all along, but never had the courage to fully embrace, is that real moments are the most magical of all. Life, with rain and sickness, is beautiful. Kennedy is gorgeous even when she doesn’t feel good. Life doesn’t have to be perfect to be wonderful.

You have reminded me to cherish it all.

I am and always will be, over-the-moon honored that you traveled all that way to spend time with me. You and Trey are fantastic parents. Thank you for sharing your life and your sweet angel with me.

Love, Katherine

Felt Board Fun

copyright-katherinemarie-0884f5sdgp

My dear friend Jamie made this delightful felt pizza set. {Complete with custom pizza box, order pad and apron… oh my!}

Since I don’t know how to sew I thought I’d take her idea and make it into a felt board play set.

I’m not sure when I became so enthralled with imaginary PIZZA SHOPS— perhaps it was family fun night oh so long ago?

Thank you Jamie for this super delicious and fun idea!!

God gave me two

but I only need one.

Kidney Donation.

Reasons why: save a life, help a stranger, take random-acts-of-kindness to another level

Reasons why not: I have a lot of kids.  Dr. Hank (aka Grandpa Hank) thinks it would be wise of me to save a kidney for one of my kids– just in case.

So I won’t be donating.  But I so very very much wish I could. Watch this ABC video clip to catch true kindness in action.  I wish I could participate.

People are so beautiful and kind.

The Kidney Chronicles is an amazing story-blog of guy who donated his kidney to a stranger. I am inspired by this guy. He is a true hero.  His next journey is to donate bone marrow to a 13 year old boy who is dying of leukemia. And guess what???? Dr. Hank says it’s OKAY for me to donate marrow. YES! I can help! I’m fearful of the pain involved… but I figure it can’t be any worse than unmedicated childbirth.

I challenge YOU to think about giving in an unbelievable way.  God calls each of us to be kind, generous and outrageously generous. What’s your way? I have not found my ULTIMATE way yet, but when I do my heart will sing!

Darn it on the kidney thing.  Darn it.

If you would like to join me on my bone marrow quest:   National Marrow Donor Program

I really enjoyed this article:  Here’s looking at you, Kidney.

This donation chain has lead to 10 kidney transplants:  CNN Health

Just added: My dad and his girl-friend are going to join me on the marrow journey! I’m so thrilled.  Let me know if you do too… I wonder how many lives we can save?

For we are God’s masterpiece.

He has created us anew in

Jesus Christ, so that we can do

the good things

he planned for us long ago.

Ephesians 2:10

What's for dinner??

***Warning***

The following information is disgusting.  Do not read before dinner time.

I repeat, do not read before dinner.

worms

Just in case you thought we were a normal family…  ummmm… I don’t now how to brake this news to you gently….  but last week Daddio, Mason and Mama each ate a worm.   It all started when, as a practical joke, I put a box of night crawlers on the dinner table.  I thought it might get a laugh or two.

Then, somehow, someway it turned into a family dare!!  Let’s eat one.

So we added a bit of extra protein to our meal.

You don’t even need to say it.  But look at Mason’s face as he watched me eat mine.  I have never seen him laugh so hard.
